Kartell Kartell Spa began in Milan in 1949 as a manufacturer of car accessories, but under the direction of Giulio Castelli, its main objective after 1951 became that of introducing Plastics into the home. Kartell has some important designs by some of the worlds most important designers, Joe Colombo, Philippe Starck, Vico Magistretti, Ron Arad and many more, who all appreciate the wealth of knowledge that Kartell has about Plastics technology and the innovative ways in which it can be effectively applied to items for modern living

Toobe Floor Lamp - a long awaited new lighting product from Kartell.

Toobe Lamp by Ferruccio Laviani was conceived from the idea that the use of a PMMA Plastic extruded tube could according to length, become either a floor or a table lamp.
Thanks to an innovative colouring technology, the Toobe Lamp is the first Kartell product to be Faded to permit a special light to be diffused within the cylinder.
The Line is simple and modern. The Handle in the lamp body makes the tube easy to move.

Mademoiselle Missoni Chair - by Philippe Starck for Kartell 
The Mademoiselle armchair upholstered in stylish Missoni fabric. An innovative design for an armchair with the clever and absolutely new technique or fusing two different plastic materials and finishes apparently "foreign" to each other: the structure in either Transparent Crystal or Opaque Black polycarbonate offers solid support and a soft and comfortable polyurethane seat, without foregoing the glamour of transparency and colour!

Mademoiselle Missoni Armchairs are priced at £476 each. Chose a seat cover in one of the fabrics from the Missoni Home collection : Vevey Red, with multicoloured kaleidoscopic flowers in red tones, Vevey Brown, with multicoloured kaleidoscopic flowers in burnt brown beige tones, and Cartagena with graffiti style black and white flowers, then chose the leg base in either transparent crystal clear, or opaque glossy black.

New Kartell Stone Stool designed by Marcel Wanders.

Stone is a low stool of the simplest design with a precious surface, designed with a single mould, withan essential, linear and symmetrical shape reminiscent of an hourglass. Its surface has an extraordinary irregular appearance made up of many geometrical reflective facets that create an effect of light from which a particular play of colours emerges, making it similar to the cut of a diamond.

Because of its jewel like nature Stone is offered in the colours of precious stones : ruby red, sapphire blue, yellow, amber & smoked.

Bookworm BookshelfBookworm Bookshelf - Kartell, * inspiration

The Bookworm bookshelf was originally designed by Ron Arad to be made from steel, but Kartell soon realised the potential this product had, and when produced in a Technopolymer Semi-transluscent plastic, it instantly became one of their best selling products.

The theory is that you are supplied with a length of shelf (comes coiled in a box) and a number of wall brackets (dependent of the length of the shelf). You then draw/design the shape of your own bookworm however you wish.

As well as being a bookshelf , book worm also makes a great CD rack, and can also be quite useful in a bathroom!
