The Gherkin lamp has been conceived by Lord Norman Foster (previously Sir Norman Foster) on the base of his design for the 30 St. Mary Axe building in London - otherwise known as The Gherkin, which is one of the most outstanding landmarks of contemporary architecture and the capital’s first environmental skyscraper.
Through its aerodynamic shape it maximises the amount of natural lighting and ventilation to reduce 50% of the building’s energy consumption.
This lighting project is meant to embody the very spirit and intensity of the original building in a transfigured form and function, and not merely as a model in scale. Beautifully executed into production by hip Italian designer lighting company Kundalini.
