GIACON - Massimo Giacon

Massimo Giacon was born in Padova in 1961, and since 1980 he has worked as a comic-strip writer, illustrator, designer, artist and musician. Since the early 1980's he has played a leading role in the phenomenal revival of Italian comics originating from magazines such as Frigidaire, Alter, Dolce Vita, Cyborg and Nova Express.
In 1985 he began collaborating with the architectural studio Sottsass Associati, whereupon his career in design expanded to include collaborations with Matteo Thun, Studio Mendini and Sieger Design along with additional projects for Memphis, Swatch and Artemide. In 1990, he ventured into the gallery scene, and has had numerous personal exhibitions in Italy, Switzerland, America and Japan. In 1994, he began doing graphic design for television and web sites. And after a musical career of about 10 years, his first solo album 'Horror Vacui' was released in 1996 in tandem with a retrospective exhibition of fifteen years of his work.
In the year 2000 he designed some rather quirky bathroom accessories Mr Suicide + Mr Cold for Alessi which are surprisingly popular products within our store, considering their disturbing personalities!!!

Alessi Mr Suicide Bath Plug

Plug this little man's ball & chain into your bathtub and turn on the taps, then basically he floats until he drowns!
We're not sure whether it constitutes an Executive Toy or not?

Is supplied complete with plug, and alternatively a little suction pad, to stick to the side of the bath, you can of course also fit the chain to your own plug.

Sebastiano just lies on your desk, holding pens and pencils at hand for when you need them.
The familiar face maybe due to Giacon’s original Mr Suicide bath plug design – so we think that maybe Sebastiano has tried to jump from a great height to create that splat roadkill pose!

As his name suggests Mr Cold is under the weather - press his head & and he obligingly dispenses liquid snot (or soap) into your hand - Nice!
