IRVINE - James Irvine
IRVINE - James Irvine Born London 1958, graduated Royal College of Art in 1984. Moved to Milan Italy 1984. From 1984 to 1992 consultant for Olivetti designing industrial products together with Michele De Lucchi. 1985 to 1987 Studio De Lucchi. Participated '12 New Memphis 86' and 'Solid' 88, 89. In 1987 for a cultural exchange organised by Olivetti moved to Tokyo for one year to make a research in industrial design at Toshiba. 1988 opened own studio in Milan collaborating with various companies including Alessi, Abet, Cappellini, Vitra, SCP, Magis.
Since 1992 coordinates together with Jasper Morrison 'Progetto Oggetto' Cappellini, a new collection of objects for the home. In 1993 designed and coordinated the exhibition 'Citizen Office' at the Vitra Design Museum. In 1993 became an associate of Sottsass Associati Milan responsible for industrial design. In September 1993 held first personal exhibition at the Royal College of Art Stockholm.
