SADLER - Marc SadlerSADLER - Marc Sadler
Marc Sadler, born in France, now lives and works in Italy as a Designer, specialising in plastic materials and their processing technologies. *He graduated from 'E.N.S.A.D.' in Paris and won the 'Brook Stevens' international design competition in 1967.*Between 1968 and 1974 he continued his apprenticeship in France and began to work on industrial design projects for French companies in very different sectors.*Already in 1968 he was a member of 'Design Center 1' in Paris, the first design group in France. In 1969 he established 'Deco Design' in the south of France. This service company specialised in offering innovative furnishing solutions, using mainly products from France and northern Europe.*In 1970, he joined the 'France Design' group and continued to specialise in plastic products. He has designed products for the most wide-ranging sectors, demonstrating his ability to understand and assimilate various production technologies in response to the requests received.*In 1971 he began working on plastic ski boots for Caber in Italy where he patented the asymmetric shell system that was to remain a very popular ski boot for several years.*This success 'forced' him to spend longer periods in Italy. He opened a studio, with a CAD system and three-dimensional modeller at Asolo (in the province of Treviso). Flanked by a staff of modellers and engineers, he set up a structure that allowed him to personally organise and manage the development of new products for corporate customers.*He later opened a studio in Venice and has recently moved permanently to Milan.*After years spent dedicating most of his efforts to the sports and industrial sectors, his activity has branched out into furniture, including the technical-specialised segment, where he works with prominent companies. He is also active in the area of teaching, and holds conferences and workshops at design schools and universities in Italy and abroad (Domus Academy, Milan Polytechnic, etc.)*He has received a series of awards including: *DESIGN PLUS of Frankfurt for his Apotheos shower enclosure designed for Domino-Albatros (1995), *COMPASSO D'ORO for the soft Drop lamp designed for Flos-Arteluce (1995)*AUSZEICHNUNG FUR GUTES DESIGN at Industrie Forum Design in Hannover for the Drop 2 (1996) wall light.*In January 1997 he was elected CREATEUR DE L'ANNEE at the Paris Salon du Meuble.
