CACCIA DOMINIONI - Luigi Caccia DominioniCACCIA DOMINIONI - Luigi Caccia Dominioni
Luigi Caccia Dominioni was born in 1913 in Milan, where he graduated in architecture in 1936. In the same year he began practising in partnership with Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and together with them he developed a reputation as a pioneer of industrial design. Their collaboration resulted in some particularly important projects of a series of radio sets for Phonola and a wide research on cutlery. His 'Caccia' cutlery range comes from this research and is on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. From 1950 to 1980 he designed numerous buildings in Italy and across Europe - the Viboldone monastery, the churches of St. Biagio at Monza, the housing estates at San Felice in Milan and at Monticello, the Parc San Roman skyscraper in Monaco. He also reconstructed the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan.
CAMPANA - Fratelli Campana BrothersCAMPANA - Fratelli Campana Brothers
Fratelli Campana - Campana Brothers

Humberto Campana, lawyer and Fernando Campana, architect, have been working together in San Paolo since 1983 in the field of artistic design. They came into the limelight in 1989 with the furniture exhibition provocatively entitled "Gli inconfortabili" (The Inconsolable), a political manifesto rather than functional objects. Their radical point of view is strengthened by the use of poor materials and industrial rubbish. Hand-made products represent the possibility of social redemption in a poor country. Their intention is, however, to find a way for Brazilian design, avoiding European colonisation. In Italy, they participated in the "Viaggio in Italia" exhibition at Abitare il Tempo in Verona in 1994 and in 1995 at the exhibition organised at the Brazilian Consulate in Milan "Il Brasile fa anche design". In 1997 they designed lights for O Luce. Some of their pieces appear in the International Design Year Book of 1997, edited by Philippe Starck. In 1998 the Moma in New York dedicated the "Progetto 66" exhibition to them, coupled with Ingo Maurer.

CASTIGLIONI - Achille CastiglioniCASTIGLIONI - Achille Castiglioni
Although a legend of Italian design, Castiglioni is exceptionally modest about his stunning abilities. A true artist in touch with the needs of his audience, he admits that some of his most inspirational moments have come to him late in the evening after a warming nightcap!

Achille Castiglioni, born in Milan in 1918, he took a degree in architecture in 1944. Since then he has been dedicated to industrial design research, working with his brother Livio (1911-1979) and Pier Giacomo (1913-1968).
In 1956 he was among the founding members of the ADI ( Industrial Design Association). From 1969 to 1993, he was professor of Industrial Design in the architecture departments at both Turin and Milan Universities.
The Museum of Modern Art in New York conserves at least a dozen of his works, and others can be found in important design collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Kunstgewerbe Museum, Zurich; the Museo del Design, Prato; the Denver Art Museum and the Vitra Design Museum.
He has won fully nine Compasso d'oro awards. In 1987, he received an honorary Laureate from the Royal College of Art, London. In 1993 he won the annual award of London's Chartered Society of Designers. In 1995 he recieved an 'Art sur Table' Award from the National Council of Culinary Arts in Paris.
His professional activity extends into the fields of architecture and urban planning, and he is internationally renowned for his lighting and accessories. Castiglioni is one of our favourite designers and as you will see, we carry a large range of his products ranging from the Arco Floor Lamp for Flos, to Dry Cutlery and Bavero China for Alessi.
