ALESSI - Ettore Alessi
ALESSI - Ettore Alessi Ettore Alessi, son of Alberto Alessi the founder of Alessi. Joined the family business in 1945. As head of the technical department, in 1955 he opened Alessi up to collaboration with external designers; working with architects Carlo Mazzeri, Luigi Massoni and Anselmo Vitale the result was several ranges aimed particularly at the catering trade, some of which are still big sellers today. Ettore is responsible for two particular 'gems' of the Alessi catalogue - his classic wire basket of 1951 and his citrus basket of 1952. They both are constructed to extremely high standards, considering their complexity and were the exciting fruit of Etttore's radical shift in new materials; brass and nickel silver made way for stainless steel, the new king of household products.

The classic 370 Citrus basket was first introduced to the market by those Italian style gurus Alessi, way back in 1952 - and it has been in production ever since!

The market has seen many cheap imitaions of this original design - but none have matched the outstanding Alessi quality of finish - who use the finest Stainless Steel with no visible welds - its definitely in a class of its own!

First produced by Alessi in 1951. This Classic wire basket has been selling strong ever since.

Looks just as fabulous empty as it does full - but it is definitely designed to be used, because it is stainless steel (not chrome or silver plated) it is easy to wash and clean.
